Mark Marino helps individuals collect money damages from storeowners, manufacturers, and all gravity knife sellers for selling these knives to unsuspecting buyers in New York City.   Many gravity knife purchasers were convicted of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree after buying those gravity knives from very reputable stores, such as Home Depot, Orvis, Paragon Sports, and Eastern Mountain Sports.  These weapons are sold in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, The Bronx, and Staten Island.

Those deceived by storeowners and manufacturers are seeking compensation for the harm caused by an arrest, conviction, fine, or jail sentence.  Mark Marino seeks to help individuals receive their compensation by filing civil lawsuits for monetary damages.  Simply, storeowners and manufacturers know – or they should know – an illegal weapon when they see it.  Some storeowners were even caught on tape telling undercover policemen that
they were selling illegal gravity knives.  Other sellers should have known based on a prior warning in 2003-2004.  It is the sellers/storeowners – and the manufacturers, in certain circumstances – who should compensate the true victims, the buyers who were not warned.

According to New York Knife Laws, a person is guilty of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree just for carrying a gravity knife.  Too many have found this out the hard way and were arrested and convicted.  They paid the price – fines and/or jail time.

Knife manufacturers and sellers put illegal weapons on our streets.  They must now pay for their deception.  There are four groups which need to be brought to justice:

  • storeowners selling illegal gravity knives
  • sellers in the growing underground market for illegal knives
  • manufacturers which make and sell the gravity knives that end up on the streets
  • those who have stabbed people with illegal knives.

On June 17, 2010, the Manhattan District Attorney issued a press release, announcing a successful probe into stores selling illegal knives – specifically, gravity knives and switchblades.  After contact from the DA, approximately forty New York companies agreed to stop the sale of illegal knives and turn over their entire stock of knives.  To date, 1,343 knives have been turned over.  According to the New York Post, seven stores entered into an agreement that required them to turn over all profits from the sale of such knives during the past four years, totaling approximately $1.9 million.
